It’s National Immunization Awareness Month! Immunize Kansas Coalition (IKC) released new RSV education modules and resources focused on preventing RSV disease in infants and adults. These educational materials, designed for parents of infants and healthcare professionals, were a featured resource in the most recent issue of the IZ Express newsletter from Immunize.org.

The Kansas Immunization Program (KIP) has begun receiving its allocation of 2026-2027 seasonal influenza vaccine. The KIP will begin fulfilling partial vaccine orders the week of August 24th. Providers should expect additional shipments as more vaccine becomes available.
The dates below are estimated dates vaccine will arrive at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) centralized distributor, McKesson. Please note there is generally a delay between when vaccine arrives at the distributor and when it becomes available for KIP to order and ship to providers.
Providers with large orders may be contacted prior to shipment to verify available storage capacity. Vaccine shipments will continue as additional doses become available until all orders are fulfilled.

Reducing Vaccination Pain and Anxiety in Children – Also for healthcare providers and teams who vaccinate children, this module helps learners understand the importance of reducing vaccination-related pain and anxiety, assess patient needs, and use practical, evidence-based strategies that can improve the vaccination experience for children, caregivers, and clinical teams. The module also features a supporting handout that providers can share with parents or caregivers. The handout includes helpful resources and QR codes to easily access information on supporting children before and during the vaccination experience. A webinar recording on this same topic is also available as enduring material and offers continuing education credit at no cost.
