The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided an update regarding the final ordering dates for the 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccines. These deadlines apply to both Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Vaccines for Adults (VFA) programs.
- The last date to order Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was Thursday, August 7, 2025.
- The last date to order Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is Friday, August 22, 2025.
Providers should plan accordingly to ensure they have adequate supply to meet their needs for the remainder of the season. Orders submitted after these dates will not be processed.
Please note, these doses may be very short dated.
Kansas is awaiting guidance from the CDC on the 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccine availability for enrolled VFA and VFC providers. Once the Kansas Immunization Program receives the details, updated information will be shared with providers.
For any questions, please reach out to your Regional Immunization Nurse or the kdhe.Vaccine@ks.gov.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). This annual observance highlights the importance of on-time routine vaccination to protect people of all ages against vaccine-preventable diseases. This year, NIAM serves as a key resource to promote reliable, evidence-based information about the importance of staying current with routine immunizations.
Voices for Vaccines (VFV) provides credible information for families, from families. The VFV’s NIAM web page includes key messages and social media content to grab the public's attention on immunizations. You will find customizable social media templates along with tips for engaging the audience. Share these messages and resources using the hashtag #NIAM2025.
During NIAM, remind your patients to schedule appointments to get up to date on annual exams and vaccines. Healthcare providers remain the most trusted source of vaccine information for both parents and patients.

The table below details the selection options for the “Contact Type” field under the “Contacts” tab of Epitrax and defines each status for use in TB cases. Examples have been provided for clarity. These fields apply only to active TB cases because Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI) cases will not have contacts listed in the case. This screenshot illustrates where the “Contact Type” field is located within Epitrax.
Please utilize the below table when entering data into TB cases for uniformity and documentation clarity. When identifying a child as a contact, please utilize the “Infant” or “Household” options. Do NOT use “Child by case mother” or “Child by other mother” as these apply to other infectious diseases. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the TB Program (785-296-5889 or 785-296-0739) for assistance.
