On March 10, 2025, McKesson began using new electronic TagAlert temperature monitors in refrigerated vaccine shipments. These updated monitors function similarly to those used in frozen Moderna COVID-19 vaccine shipments, tracking both warm and cold temperature excursions during transit.
Please see this flyer for information on the new temperature monitor.
For any questions or concerns, please contact your Regional Immunization Nurse or the Nurse on Call at 877-296-0464.
Vaccine Information Statements (VISs) are essential resources provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to educate patients, parents and legal guardians about the benefits and risks of vaccines.
Did you know that health care providers are required by the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act to distribute the most up-to-date VIS before administering a vaccine? Ensuring patients receive current information helps maintain transparency and trust in the immunization process.
The VISs are updated frequently and available in multiple languages. They can be downloaded from the CDC or Immunize.org websites.
Please discard outdated VISs and replace them with the most current versions to stay compliant and provide accurate information.
Keeping up with updated VISs ensures our patients and families receive the best and most accurate vaccine guidance. Thank you for staying informed and proactive!
The Influenza-Like Illness Surveillance Network (ILINet) sites monitor patients for influenza-like illness (ILI), which is defined as symptoms of a fever (>100⁰F) and the presence of a cough and/or sore throat.
During the week ending March 15, the Kansas Health and Environmental Laboratories reported 10 positive influenza A/H1 specimens and three positive influenza A/H3 specimens.
During the week ending March 15, ILINet sites reported 3% of visits were due to ILI. Syndromic surveillance indicated that 4% of emergency departments visits in Kansas were due to ILI. All data is subject to change. Influenza activity across the state is currently considered moderate.
As a reminder, outbreaks of any disease are reportable and should be reported to the epidemiology hotline at 877-427-7317. Stay updated on influenza activity.
