In 2024, Hurricane Helene caused significant damage to Baxter International Incorporated's North Cove facility resulting in a massive reduction in availability of intravenous fluids. This article provides some mitigation strategies for this shortage as well as discussing the potential impact these types of shortages might have on antimicrobial stewardship.
