Following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, McKesson will temporarily suspend all Vaccines for Children (VFC) orders for the state of Kansas due to the current extreme weather conditions. This precaution is being implemented to ensure the safety and integrity of vaccine shipments during this period.
McKesson is providing frequent updates on the status of shipping orders, and the Kansas Immunization Program (KIP) will notify providers as soon as orders can be delivered again.
For any questions or concerns, please contact your Regional Immunization Nurse or email us for assistance.

The Influenza-Like Illness Surveillance Network (ILINet) sites monitor patients for influenza-like illness (ILI), which is defined as symptoms of a fever (>100⁰F) and the presence of a cough and/or sore throat. During the week ending October 12th, ILINet sites reported 7% of visits were due to ILI. Syndromic surveillance indicated that 8% of emergency departments visits in Kansas were due to ILI. All data is subject to change.
Influenza activity across the state is currently minimal. During the week ending January 4th, the Kansas Health and Environmental Laboratories reported one positive influenza A/H3 specimen.
