In June, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended routine RSV vaccination of two groups in older adults:
- All unvaccinated adults ages 75 years and older.
- Unvaccinated adults ages 60–74 years who experience health or living conditions that increase their risk of serious RSV disease.
Standing orders help vaccine providers establish protocols that streamline routine immunization without requiring individual patient orders.
Immunize.org has a new template available for Standing Orders for Administering Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccine (RSV) to Adults Age 60 Years and Older. These orders include current ACIP recommendations for any of the three licensed RSV vaccines: Abrysvo (Pfizer), Arexvy (GSK), and mResvia (Moderna).
Additional RSV standing order templates are also available.
Standing Orders for Administering Nirsevimab RSV Preventive Antibody to Infants
Standing Orders for Administering Pfizer Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Vaccine (Abrysvo) During Pregnancy
All vaccine providers should download the updated documents and discard outdated versions.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its U.S. COVID-19 Vaccine Product Information main page. You will find links to standing order templates as well as at-a-glance summaries for both Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines. Resources for the 2024-2025 Novavax COVID-19 vaccine are coming soon.
Immunize.org has also updated the Checklist of Current Versions of U.S. COVID-19 Vaccination Guidance and Clinic Support Tools to reflect the 2024-2025 formulas.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has created Childhood Immunization Discussion Guides and Adolescent Immunization Discussion Guides for pediatricians and primary care providers to share with patients and families during clinical encounters. These guides focus on vaccine recommendations and the reasoning behind them. Each guide is paired with family-friendly infographics and helpful speaking points to have productive conversations about vaccines.
The Childhood Immunization Discussion Guides cover vaccines recommended from birth to six years old. The Adolescent Immunization Discussion Guides focus on vaccines for preteens and teens ages nine through 18 years old. These are great tools to promote engaging conversations with parents, while giving a strong recommendation for vaccines.
The National Foundation for Infectious Disease (NFID) Clinical Vaccinology Course focuses on new developments and issues related to the use of vaccines including the latest recommendations and practical strategies for ensuring timely and appropriate immunization across the lifespan.
Expert speakers share timely information to arm attendees with the knowledge and strategies needed to improve vaccination rates in practice.
