The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccination guidance for older adults and recommends a single dose of RSV vaccine to:
- Adults ages 75 years and older.
- Adults ages 60 to 74 at increased risk of severe RSV disease, including those with chronic medical conditions such as heart or lung disease and those living in long-term care facilities.
CDC also recommended the updated 2024-2025 COVID-19 and Flu vaccines to help protect against respiratory illnesses this fall and winter.
Kindergarten Immunization Coverage dashboard has been updated to include the information for the 2023-2024 dashboard. Dashboard includes vaccination coverage on the state and school district level along with exemption information.
Occasionally, Vaccines for Children (VFC) providers may find they have vaccine stock that is close to expiring. If a provider finds that they have vaccine stock that is close to expiring and will not be used by the expiration date, short-dated vaccine can be transferred to another VFC provider to avoid vaccine wastage.
The Kansas Immunization Program (KIP) maintains a list of publicly funded vaccines available for redistribution.

As the respiratory season comes around the corner, find resources and shareables on Immunize Kansas Coalition’s Kansas Fights Flu webpage, a collaboration between IKC, Kansas Healthcare Collaborative and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The campaign webpage includes materials for various audiences, such as health care providers, pregnant women, college students and more! Additional respiratory resources include IKC’s Respiratory Season Brochure and Honest Conversations campaign videos, which emphasize the importance of flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccinations all season long.
