The Kansas Immunization Program is excited to announce some changes designed to better serve providers. The program is restructuring from nine Regional Immunization Nurses to seven. This update will streamline services and enhance support across the state.
An updated map showing the new regional assignments is available. If your location is transitioning to a new regional nurse, be on the lookout for an email from them where they will be introducing themselves and providing further details.
For any questions or if there’s anything that needs clarification, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Nurse on call at 877-296-0464 or by email.
Thank you for your attention to this update, and for your continued dedication to immunization efforts.
Great news! The Kansas Immunization Program has started receiving the 2024-2025 seasonal influenza vaccine. Partial vaccine orders will begin to be fulfilled during the week of Aug. 26. Expect to see additional shipments of the vaccine as more doses become available.
Please keep in mind that there might be a slight delay between when the vaccine arrives at our distributor and when it can be ordered. Providers with large orders will be contacted to confirm storage capacity before shipping. Vaccine shipments will continue until all orders are fulfilled.
To ensure the best availability, the KIP recommends planning for flu clinics no earlier than October.
If there are any questions about seasonal influenza vaccine orders, feel free to e-mail us here.
Thank you for your patience and for your ongoing commitment to keeping the community healthy!
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Bridge Access Program for COVID-19 vaccines will continue until either the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccines are recommended or until Aug. 31—whichever comes first.
As the fall respiratory virus season approaches, the CDC is enhancing Vaccines.gov and Vacunas.gov (the Spanish language version) to offer more comprehensive information. Soon, these sites will show not only COVID-19 vaccine availability but also details on influenza and RSV vaccines at various facilities, like pharmacies and public clinics. The Bridge Access Program vaccine locator has been removed from Vaccines.gov at this time.
These updates will be rolled out once the 2024-2025 COVID-19 and flu vaccines are widely available.
As National Immunization Awareness Month wraps up this August, continue to share the importance of immunizations throughout the back-to-school season. Immunize Kansas Coalition’s NIAM/Back-to-School webpage includes resources for routine vaccine catch-up year-round!
