Target Audience: Nurses and Para-Professionals.
Designed to provide vision screening theory and practices for nurses and other service providers in public health, schools and community work sites. Participants will utilize the information and skills to perform standardized vision screening techniques for children and youth.
At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Describe vision screening requirements for children & youth.
- Demonstrate competencies in conducting age appropriate and evidence-based tests for vision screening with birth to 3-year olds, school age children and children in special education.
- List common childhood vision defects and identify appropriate test(s) to detect those defects.
- Demonstrate use of the referral criteria for each selected test.
- Describe the importance of appropriate follow-up on all referrals
NOTE: Each course is only allotted 12 attendees. Once a course has reached that cap, registration for that course will close.
