We encourage all to read this op-ed from the Grand Rapids Chamber's Andy Johnston in Bridge Michigan:
"Having confidence in our elections should matter to you. It’s a marker of a healthy, functioning society. Use your standing to educate yourself and the people around you. And if you have questions heading into the midterms, there will be another Public Accuracy Test before November where you can see this process in action for yourself.
We should demand that our elections be accurate. We should ask tough questions when warranted. Accountability and scrutiny are strengths of our system, not challenges to overcome. But we also have to be willing to look at the process for ourselves.
Trust isn’t built by telling people to trust, but by showing them why they can. Michigan’s business community understands this well. Employers want predictability. Customers want confidence. Communities want stability. Our democracy deserves the same."To view the full story, click here.

Following each election, the County Clerk's office conducts a post-election audit of several precincts drawn randomly. These audits include a precinct's election day and absentee voting processes. The primary points of focus for the audit are if the following were done correctly:
- Election notices
- Election inspector appointments and training
- E-pollbook (EPB) security
- Test deck procedures
- Military and overseas voter applications
- Pollbook
- Ballot containers used during multiple election processes
Discrepancies and deficiencies identified in the post-election audit will be used to determine training points for the local clerk who is participating in the audit as well as to aid in the determination of future training needs to be provided at both the county and state level. The audit of voted ballots will reinforce the accuracy and security of the voting system.
The County Clerk's office has completed the post-election audits of the August 4 Primary Election. To view these results, click here.
