KCSO Investigating Fatal Overnight Crash
SOLON TOWNSHIP, Mich: At approximately 12:30 a.m. on July 4, 2026, deputies responded to Algoma Avenue NE south of 15 Mile Rd for a head-on crash involving two vehicles.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 58-year-old Algoma Township man was traveling in the wrong lane when his SUV collided head-on with a pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Hastings man.
The 58-year-old driver was trapped in his vehicle and had to be removed by emergency responders. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The 19-year-old driver and his five passengers were all transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to serious.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The KCSO Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate the crash.
