Before ballots are printed for an election, the County does a comprehensive proofing to ensure the following:
- Election title
- Proposal and candidate name spelling
- District numbers
- Number to be elected to each office
- Candidate name rotations
Each candidate for public office receives a sample copy of the ballot via USPS and email to review the spelling of their name. Each school district and township/city that places a proposal on the ballot also receives this. Lastly, each local jurisdiction clerk's office reviews their own ballots. Lots of different offices and candidates proofread the ballots to ensure 100% accuracy before they go to print. The number of ballot styles depends on the election, for example the August 4 Primary Election has 232 for Kent County!

All candidate committees and ballot question committees NOT participating in an election in 2026 are required to submit a July Quarterly Report by Monday, July 27 at 5pm.
All committees participating in the August 4 Primary Election are required to submit a Pre-Election Report by Friday, July 24 at 5pm.
