Dear Community Members,
As we step into 2026, there is so much to celebrate from our collective achievements in 2025. KCCA provided 12,253 rides and delivered 15,576 meals to seniors, distributed 121,279 food boxes, provided $617,780 in direct financial assistance, and invested more than $1.3 million to improve, make safe, and extend the life of over 200 homes in Kent County. An additional $1.3 million supported our community development initiatives through vital public services and community infrastructure projects (parks, sidewalks, community spaces, etc.). Altogether, these efforts touched the lives of more than 30,000 Kent County residents.
These accomplishments are even more meaningful given the significant burden created by federal budget uncertainties in 2025. Despite these challenges, KCCA remained steadfast, continuing to deliver essential services without interruption. Our ability to stay present, responsive, and reliable for the community is a testament to the strength of our team, our partners, and the trust placed in us by those we serve.
A special thank you to our volunteers and community partners, who contributed over 60,000 hours of service to support our mission throughout the year. All of this would not have been possible without you.
Looking ahead to 2026, we remain committed to delivering exceptional programs and services across Kent County. In February, we will host our 38th Annual Walk for Warmth to raise awareness and generate critical support for households in need of utility assistance. This work is made possible by you—our supporters, team members, volunteers, and the many partner organizations dedicated to strengthening our community.
Sincerely, Kent County Community Action Director, Gustavo Perez

Participate In Walk For Warmth On February 28
We are excited to host the 38th annual Walk for Warmth on February 28 this year!
The event kicks off with a brief program followed by a short walk dedicated to raising funds for families who need assistance paying their heating bills. All proceeds from the event go directly back to Kent County families.
Anyone can participate by walking, sponsoring, or donating on our website!
When: Saturday, February 28, 2026 8:30 am - Registration 9:00 am - Opening Remarks 9:30 am - Walk Begins
Where: Kent County Community Action Office * 121 Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Suite 110, Grand Rapids, MI 49507
Walk Route: KCCA entrance on Martin Luther King Jr. Street to Division Ave. to Wealthy Street to Jefferson Avenue and back to KCCA.
Why: Heating assistance for Kent County residents is needed now more than ever. As a result of increased pricing and a lagging economy, hundreds of Kent County households struggle to pay for basic necessities like heat. The money raised through Walk for Warmth goes directly to Kent County families in need.
