$10,000 Donation From Standale Meijer Boosts Programs at Kent County Animal Shelter
Grand Rapids, Mich. (November 20, 2025) - The Kent County Animal Shelter (KCAS) has received a generous $10,000 donation from the Meijer Store #216 in Standale, through the retailer’s “Meijer Team Gives” program.
“We’re grateful to the Standale Meijer team for choosing to support the important work happening at our Animal Shelter,” said Angela Hollinshead, Director of the Kent County Animal Shelter. “This gift strengthens our ability to care for animals, reunite pets with residents, and support responsible pet ownership across the county.”
The $10,000 gift will support several key programs, including:
-
Life-Saving Medical Care - Vaccinations, treatment, and urgent veterinary support.
-
Behavioral Enrichment & Comfort Supplies - Toys, beds, treats, and stress-relief tools that keep animals healthy and happy while awaiting adoption.
The contribution follows a nomination and voting process in which Standale Meijer team members selected a local organization they believe is making a meaningful difference in the community.
“We’re proud to support the Kent County Animal Shelter and the incredible work they do for pets and families in our community,” said Robin Owczarzak, Store Director of Meijer Store #216 in Standale, Michigan. “Our team cares deeply about animal welfare, and this donation reflects our commitment to making a positive impact where we live and work. Our purpose of enriching lives in the communities we serve is at the heart of everything we do.”
Each year, KCAS cares for thousands of dogs and cats in need of safety, compassion, and second chances. Support from partners like Meijer enables the shelter to expand its services, improve animal welfare throughout Kent County, and help more pets thrive. KCAS extends heartfelt thanks to the entire Meijer Store #216 team for their commitment to giving back and choosing Kent County Animal Shelter.
