K9 Soka Found Safe
KENT COUNTY, Mich: K9 Soka has been safely located following a search after he became separated from his handler yesterday morning in Irons, Michigan. Soka was found approximately 4.5 miles away after being spotted by a local resident. He appears to be in good condition aside from a few porcupine quills and will be taken to a veterinarian for evaluation.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere appreciation to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Manistee County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Grand Rapids Fire Department, Grand Rapids Police Department, and other area partners who assisted in the search efforts.
We are also deeply grateful to the community members across Kent and Lake Counties and surrounding areas who shared information, submitted tips, and kept a watchful eye out for Soka.
Thanks to this combined effort, K9 Soka is safe and on his way home.

KENT COUNTY, MI: This morning, K9 Soka, a new German Shorthair mix with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, got loose from his handler while in Irons, Michigan. K9 Soka is trained in narcotics detection, microchipped, and wearing a collar with identification (as seen in the photos). He is friendly and may approach people if called.
The dog was last seen about 1.5 miles southwest of Peacock Township Hall in the Manistee National Forest. Lake County Sheriff’s Office has assisted with a ground search. Kent County Sheriff’s Office has deployed a drone to the area in hopes that the weather will now allow an aerial search.
If you see or locate K9 Soka, please secure him if possible and contact your local Sheriff’s Office or Lake County Central Dispatch immediately. Please share this post with people you know near Peacock Township, Sauble, Wolf Lake, Baldwin, and Irons to help us find K9 Soka.
