
Kent County Clerk/Register of Deeds Office Closed to Public Wednesday, August 27
GRAND RAPIDS, MI. (Aug. 21, 2025) - The Kent County Clerk/Register of Deeds Office will be closed to the public on Wednesday, August 27, due to office reconfiguration and will re-open on Thursday, August 28 at 8 a.m. Online services on the Clerk/Register’s website will remain operational during the one-day closure, so the public may still conduct electronic transactions. This closure does NOT affect the Clerk of the Circuit Court services and operations.
The reconfiguration of the Clerk/Register’s Office is necessary due to significant construction on the County Administration Building, which is intended to make the facility more accessible.
The Kent County Clerk/Register of Deeds Office is responsible for recording and maintaining all land and vital records in Kent County, such as births, marriages, deaths, mortgages, deeds, business registrations, notaries public, military discharges, and concealed pistol licenses. The Clerk/Register is also the chief election official in Kent County and serves as clerk of the 17th Circuit Court.
