KCSO Arrests Local Social Worker for Inappropriate Communications with Minors
KENT COUNTY, Mich: The Kent County Sheriff’s Office coordinated the arrest of 26-year-old Dequindre Malik Wiggins, of Grand Rapids, MI, following an ongoing investigation into inappropriate communications with multiple juveniles. Wiggins, a Licensed Master Social Worker, was employed at Valleywood Middle School in Kentwood.
The investigation began on May 9, 2025, when a parent reported inappropriate contact between her child and Wiggins to KCSO road patrol. Detectives and the School Resource Officer assigned to Kentwood Public Schools continued the investigation which revealed Wiggins had additional contact with other juveniles over online platforms.
As a result of the investigation, the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office issued a nationwide, extraditable arrest warrant on May 21, 2025, for the following charges:
• Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes (4-year felony)
• Using a Computer to Commit a Crime (7-year felony)
On the morning of May 21, 2025, Wiggins was located and arrested by the City of Lexington Police Department in Lexington, Kentucky.
Wiggins awaits a disposition on the extradition at the Fayette County Detention Center. We thank the City of Lexington Police Department for their swift and professional assistance in apprehending Wiggins and supporting this investigation.
