BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich:
The Kent County Sheriff's Office shooting investigation in Byron Township is now being investigated as a homicide after the victim passed away.
On 2/16/2025 around 5:35 PM, Kent County Sheriff's Office was called to a home at the Camelot Manor Mobile Home Community in the 300 block of N Harewood Dr SW for a shooting investigation. It was learned the suspect, an 18-year-old male, fled the scene. He was quickly taken into custody by responding units, and has since been lodged at the Kent County Jail awaiting arraignment.
The victim, 36-year-old Jeffrey Gamble of Byron Township, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but has since died. The investigation revealed this incident stemmed from a domestic argument. The suspect and victim lived in the same residence and had known each other for a number of years.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The case will be reviewed by the Kent County Prosecutors Office. The Kent County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred at Camelot Manor Mobile Home Community in the 300 block of N Harewood Dr SW.
Deputies responded to a shooting incident around 5:35 pm. It was learned the suspect, an 18-year-old man, fled the scene. Deputies, along with the drone unit and assisting units, quickly responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect as he attempted to flee the area.
This was an isolated incident, and no additional suspects are being sought. The victim, a 36-year-old man, sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. We appreciate the public’s patience as we work to complete the investigation. Additional information will become available as the investigation continues.
