Dear Department Directors, Elected Officials, and Staff,
It’s finally happening – after more than a year of hard work, our new website platform is launching this Monday, Feb. 3! We couldn’t wait to share a sneak peek with you before it goes live.
A Huge Thank You 🙌
This has been a long and collaborative process, and we want to thank everyone who contributed along the way. From reviewing and streamlining content to assisting with department/office navigation, attending trainings, providing technical support, and more – we couldn’t have done this without you.
What’s New?
Starting today (Friday, Jan. 31), please send all content or navigation edit requests to:
Important: After today, please do not send requests to WebTecs for content or navigation edits.
We are also changing the domain to kentcountymi.gov. Don’t worry – accesskent.com will redirect visitors to the new site.
Additionally, we’re introducing more editorial review and oversight for website updates to ensure all changes meet our new accessibility standards, branding guidelines, and overall quality expectations.
What’s Staying the Same?
- Applications such as online payments, Inmate Lookup, and FOIA will be maintained by WebTecs and are embedded into the new site.
- Staff who use these applications will continue to access them as usual – no changes there!
Please note that embedded applications on the site will have a refreshed look after launch, reflecting our brand standards.
What Can You Do?
After the site is launched, we encourage you to conduct a document audit and update any links that point to the old site. This will help ensure that documents, emails, and other materials reflect the new web address and prevent broken links.
When the site transitions, residents who have bookmarked specific pages or documents may encounter error messages or believe the site is down. If you receive reports about this, please let them know the website has moved to kentcountymi.gov and encourage them to update their bookmarks with the new site’s links.
A Better User Experience 🌟
Thanks to extensive user testing, we’ve significantly improved the site’s navigation to make it more intuitive for both staff and the public. After the launch, we’ll address any outstanding issues and begin updating content to reflect our brand guidelines.
We’re thrilled to reach this milestone and look forward to what’s next as we continue refining and improving the site. This launch is a major step forward, but our work doesn’t stop here—we’re committed to ongoing enhancements to ensure the best experience for staff and the public. If you have any questions, please email website@kentcountymi.gov.
