KCSO Investigates Fatal Crash in Spencer Township
SPENCER TOWNSHIP, Mich: Around 7:40 PM tonight, the Kent County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) responded to an accident involving two vehicles at the intersection of Lincoln Lake Ave and 17 Mile Rd. Tragically, a 15-year-old boy from Grand Rapids was injured and later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Our preliminary investigation revealed that a 16-year-old boy from Gowen was driving a black Nissan Sentra northbound on Lincoln Lake Ave, approaching 17 Mile Rd, when he made a U-turn in the intersection. The Sentra's passengers included a 17-year-old boy from Greenville and a 15-year-old boy from Grand Rapids.
A 26-year-old Holland woman was driving a black Infinity behind the Sentra when the Sentra suddenly made a U-turn in the intersection, and the vehicles collided. The 15-year-old boy was the only person injured.
This accident remains under investigation by the KCSO Traffic Safety Unit.
KCSO extends our deepest condolences to the family and all who are impacted by this accident.
