Several Vehicles Stolen Overnight, One 19-Year-Old from Detroit in Custody
CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich: Just before 2:00 AM this morning, the Kent County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) responded to a break-in at Comodo Motors in Caledonia after the owner witnessed multiple suspects stealing vehicles through a live surveillance system. Deputies arriving on the scene observed five vehicles leaving the dealership: a blue Dodge Challenger, a black Chevrolet Corvette, a black Dodge Ram 1500 TRX — all confirmed stolen from Comodo — along with a black Dodge Challenger and a white Jeep, which were also presumed stolen. The vehicles fled northbound toward M-6, prompting a multi-jurisdictional pursuit. Deputies successfully deployed stop sticks near the 8000 block of Broadmoor Ave, partially disabling the blue Challenger. The vehicle continued until stopping near M-6 and I-96, where the suspect exited and entered the white Jeep, continuing the pursuit at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
The chase extended into Ionia County, where deputies lost sight of the white Jeep and the black Corvette. However, with the assistance of the Ionia County Sheriff's Office and Portland Police Department, a 19-year-old female from Detroit was arrested, and the black Dodge Ram was recovered. Additionally, Livingston County authorities later located the stolen Corvette unoccupied within their jurisdiction.
We are thankful that no one was injured as a result of the suspects' reckless driving. The safety of our community remains our top priority. We appreciate the cooperation and swift response from our neighboring law enforcement partners, which underscores our commitment to ensuring public safety and holding those responsible accountable.
