Recently the Michigan Secretary of State's Office unveiled the winners of its first ever "I Voted" sticker contest. Two of the winners are from Kent County! Congratulations to Bree Tanner (Grand Rapids) on her "Ope I Voted" and Gabby Warner (City of Rockford) on her "Yay I Voter" sticker designs. We look forward to seeing the stickers across Kent County polling locations on November 5!

Proposal 2022-2 amended the Michigan Constitution to include a voter’s right to receive updates on the status of their absent voter (AV) ballot applications and ballots, including by electronic notification. Voters can now subscribe to receive electronic notifications at Michigan.gov/Vote directly, when registering to vote, or when submitting an online AV application. Voters will then receive emails when the status of their AV application or ballot is updated.
If you have ever wondered how to become more active in government, there are plenty of opportunities for you that do not involve running for elected office. Michigan has 83 counties, 274 cities, and 1,242 townships. During an election, each of these units of government requires a staff of paid workers to work at the polls. This includes during early voting, the absentee ballot count board, and on election day at various polling locations. Election inspectors are employed by the municipality, but in most instances are trained by the Kent County Election's office. For more information on becoming an election inspector and to view our fall training schedule, click here.
The official candidate and proposal list for the November 5, 2024 General Election can be found by clicking here. You may complete an application to receive an absentee ballot by clicking here. Early voting is from Saturday, October 26 -Sunday, November 3.

The results of the August 6th Primary Election audits can be found by clicking here. Following each election the County Clerk conducts an independent post-election audit. Our office, in conjunction with the State Bureau of Elections, randomly draws a varying number of precincts in the County where we audit a precinct's absentee voter count board and election day process. This audit includes analyzing requirements around pre-election, election inspectors, e-pollbook, voting systems and testing, poll book, ballot containers, and applications to vote.

Ahead of each election all local jurisdictions complete testing of their election equipment during their Public Logic & Accuracy Testing. Prior to each election, city and township clerks must test and verify the accuracy of the materials and systems used to conduct an election. That includes the tabulator and programming, paper ballots, equipment, and election reporting software. For more information on this and to view the schedule for the November 5th General Election, click here.

All committees participating in the November 5, 2024 General Election must complete a Pre-Election Statement for all contributions and expenses from August 26-October 20. This report is due by 5pm Friday, October 25.
