Grand Rapids, Mich. (September 5, 2024) — Kent County is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Grams as the new Director of Kent County Veterans Services. Grams, a dedicated advocate for veterans and an Army veteran, began his new role on September 3, 2024.
"Ryan’s extensive knowledge of federal benefits, along with his background as a veteran and deep institutional knowledge, make him exceptionally well-suited to lead our Veterans Services,” said Kent County Administrator/Controller Al Vanderberg. “His commitment to supporting our veterans and ensuring they receive the benefits they deserve is unparalleled."
Grams has served the past 14 years in a supervisory position within the department, where he played a crucial role in enhancing services for Kent County veterans. "I am excited about the opportunity to continue serving our veterans and to lead a dedicated team as the Director of Kent County Veterans Services," said Grams. "As a disabled Army veteran, I am keenly aware of the struggles veterans face in obtaining benefits for themselves and their families. I look forward to further serving our veterans and making a positive impact on their lives."
Grams is a certified Veterans Service Officer and is working toward his certification as a Veteran Advocate through the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers.
