Expansion of KCSO's Mental Health Unit
Kent County, Mich: The Kent County Sheriff's Office is re-opening its female mental health unit within our correctional facility, following renovations and an expansion. This milestone is an example of KCSO's and the Kent County's Board of Commissioners' continued commitment to the comprehensive care we provide our incarcerated population. This unit will prioritize mental health treatment, therapy, and case management for the women within our correctional facility to promote successful reintegration into our community upon their release and ultimately reduce recidivism.
KCSO's Mental Health Staff and Diversion Services collaborated with VitalCore Medical Services to implement screenings, assessments, and crisis intervention tailored to our female incarcerated population.
Specialized programs like our mental health unit could not have happened without our dedicated community partners. KCSO had the privilege of collaborating with Hope Network, Arbor Circle, Women's Resource Center, Network 180, Family Outreach Center, Kent County Mental Health Court, Kent County Probate Court, Kent County Prosecutor's Office, Pine Rest, Cherry Health, Servants Center, Alpha Delta Omega Team, and Reach the Forgotten Ministries.
