Your Contribution Is Invaluable
Greetings! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Dawn Davies, and I've had the privilege of serving as a county employee for over 25 years. Currently, I have the honor of being a part of the Communication/PR Team, where one of my roles involves curating content for the County Communicator-Employee Newsletter.
The County Communicator is vital for keeping staff informed, inspired, and connected. It is scheduled to be distributed every first and third week of the month, with content deadlines set one week prior.
I write to you with an invitation and a request. First, I invite you to share any relevant information, updates, announcements, or insights from your department for inclusion in our upcoming newsletters. Your contributions are the lifeblood of our publication, and they play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative of our organization. Please direct your submissions to me, Dawn Davies, at Communications@kentcountymi.gov.
Furthermore, I extend an invitation to explore our past editions. Delving into our archives can offer valuable insights into the look and "feel" of the content we typically include.
Let's celebrate our achievements, share our stories, "toot our own horns" and amplify our voices.
With warm regards,
Dawn Davies

Information Technology
Former Intranet Content – Outdated Links
The current Kent County Intranet has been in place for approximately 14 months. Employee access to the former Intranet site (Employee Hub) content was removed last year and departments partnered with IT to move content to the modern Kent County Intranet.
IT continues to receive notifications that county employees are attempting to access content/documents from outdated Intranet URLs that are no longer accessible. When users attempt to access these links, they receive an error message and need to be redirected.
Help us help you!
There is an easy solution to resolve this issue. Please take a moment to review and update any existing browser bookmarks or hyperlinks to old intranet sites that may exist in your browser, your documentation, e-mails, etc.
How can I spot an outdated link?
Outdated/inoperable links can be identified by the site name “KCIntranet” or “KENTINTRANET” in their URL:
https://kentcounty.sharepoint.com/sites/KCIntranet
https://kentcounty.sharepoint.com/sites/KENTINTRANET
Links to current Kent County Intranet content include the “KentCountyIntranet” site name in their URL:
https://kentcounty.sharepoint.com/sites/KentCountyIntranet/
Locating content on the current Intranet can be done in multiple ways, including an effective search function. For more information, please use this resource: Locating Documents (or Other Content) on the Intranet (sharepoint.com).
If you have any questions, please contact the IT Service Desk.

St. Patricks Day-Fun Fact
As March unfolds, so does the vibrant celebration of St. Patrick's Day.
Did you know that the original color associated with St. Patrick's Day was blue, not green? It wasn't until the 19th century that green became the dominant color due to its association with Ireland's lush landscapes and the shamrock. The tradition of wearing green on St. Patrick's Day has since become an iconic and widely recognized symbol of the holiday's celebration.
We'd be delighted to see your office teammates showcasing their green attire for St. Patrick's Day either on Friday March 15th or Monday 18th. Please feel free to share your photos with us, and with your permission, we may feature them in future newsletters or on our social media platforms. Thank you for contributing to the festive spirit and camaraderie of St. Patrick's Day celebrations!
