Cedar Springs Couple Arrested for Child Abuse
CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich: On February 22, 2024, around 9:30 pm, the Kent County Sheriff's Office was contacted to check the welfare of a 7-year-old boy at a residence along S Main St NE. Our initial investigation revealed the child was locked in a small makeshift room for extended periods of time. Due to the condition of the home, child, and overall situation, the boy was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation. The boy has been referred for support and has been placed with care outside of the home. Yesterday evening the father of the child, a 47-year-old man, and the father's girlfriend, a 38-year-old woman, were arrested on charges of child abuse and unlawful imprisonment. As the case proceeds, we anticipate the couple will be arraigned in the 63rd District Court.
