KCSO Arrests Alpine Township Man after Shooting Incident
ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich: Just before 6:00 AM today, KCSO received a 911 call that someone had shot at another person inside an apartment at 3814 Yorkland Dr NW. No one was injured, but five people were still inside the apartment with the suspect. Deputies from the KCSO, Michigan State Police Troopers, and Walker Police Officers responded to the scene. They found that the five additional in the apartment were afraid to come out and were hidden away in different rooms from the suspect.
Additional KCSO resources such as the Tactical Team and Negotiators were requested. As deputies attempted to communicate with the suspect he did not appear to be armed but was not cooperative. Seizing a window of opportunity, the Tactical Team made entry into the apartment and took the suspect into custody without incident, and located a firearm nearby. The five additional people inside were frightened, but thankfully unharmed.
KCSO detectives interviewed those involved and ultimately arrested a 48-year-old male who resided at the apartment on felony charges. Those involved are all known to each other and the incident appeared to stem from a domestic argument. The case will be further reviewed by the Kent County Prosecutor's Office.
