Statement from Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker

We have filed charges today against James Donald Holkeboer for the following:

Election law-Falsifying returns/records, felony punishable by up to 5 years and/or $1,000
Using a computer to commit a crime, felony punishable by 4 years and/or $5,000, a consecutive sentence may be imposed for the underlying conviction.

These charges stem from activity during the 2022 Primary Election held this past August in Gaines Township. At this time, these are merely allegations, Mr. Holkeboer is presumed innocent of the charges until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He will be arraigned in 63^rd District Court, we have no information on when that will take place.
