By following the City’s collection guidelines, you help protect our sanitation staff, reduce overtime, enable efficient single-driver routes, and minimize extra pickups. These steps help us keep costs down and avoid raising residential fees.
Refer to the diagram below for the best way to clear snow from your driveway. Following these guidelines will help the City clear streets more efficiently during heavy snowfall.
When snow is expected, please park in your driveway rather than on the street. Vehicles parked along roadways can slow snow removal and create safety hazards for drivers and plow operators.
Remember that emergency snow routes must remain clear at all times. Vehicles parked on these routes during declared snow emergencies may be towed. Your cooperation helps keep our streets safe and passable for everyone during winter weather.

In addition to this email, please watch for weather-related updates throughout the winter. City alerts will be sent by email and posted on our website using an alert banner.
Thank you for your cooperation with these holiday collection changes and snow removal guidelines. Your efforts help ensure our community remains safe and efficient throughout the winter months.
With appreciation,
City of West Lafayette Street & Sanitation Department
