 Dear West Lafayette Neighbors,
As the seasons change and the holidays approach, we want to help you stay informed about upcoming adjustments to the City’s trash, yard waste, and leaf collection schedules.
Please take a moment to review the updates below to ensure your items are ready for pickup on the correct day.
Holiday Trash, Yard Waste, and Recycling Collection Updates
- November 10: Street and Sanitation closed in observance of Veterans Day.
- November 11: City offices closed in observance of Veterans Day
- November 27/28: City offices closed in observance of Thanksgiving

- Week of Thanksgiving: November 24-28
- No yard waste collection all week
- Tuesday’s trash/recycling will be collected on Monday.
- Wednesday’s trash/recycling will be collected on Tuesday.
- Thursday’s trash/recycling will be collected on Wednesday.
- December 17: Fall Curbside Leaf Collection ends.
- December 24/25: City offices closed in observance of Christmas.
- Week of Christmas: December 22-26
- No yard waste collection all week
- Tuesday’s trash/recycling will be collected on Monday.
- Wednesday’s trash/recycling will be collected on Tuesday.
- Thursday’s trash/recycling will be collected on Friday
Approved Trash Toters & Placement
- Use City-approved toters
- All containers must have a toter bar, lid, and wheels.
- Place the container with the bar facing the street, within 2 feet of the curb, and at least 3 feet from obstacles.

Collection Day Readiness
- Have your trash at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
- Do not stack anything on top of the toter.
- Routes can vary due to holidays, vacations, construction, or staff illness.
- Missed the truck? Please remove toter from the street until the following week.
- Never leave trash at the curb until the following week.
Weather Reminders
- Clear snow and ice from on and around your toter.
- If the City closes due to severe weather, trash collection will be cancelled for the day.
