We understand it can be frustrating to miss an ordinance or resolution that impacts you. That's why we’re committed to sharing this information in advance. You’ll receive one Quick Notes email about a week before the Council meeting and a follow-up after the meeting concludes.
With this timely information, you’ll have the opportunity to reach out to your City Councilor, attend the meeting, or share your feedback - whether it’s in support, with concerns, or in opposition.
Council Quick Notes is a growing initiative, and we welcome your suggestions on how we can make it more useful for you.

New Business
Ordinance No. 44-2025 To Amend Certain Portions Of The Unified Zoning Ordinance Of Tippecanoe County, Indiana, Designating The Time When The Same Shall Take Effect. (UZO Amendment #122) (Gasoline Service Stations) (Submitted by Area Plan Commission) [No. of Readings 1 of 1]
This ordinance is a response to a request from the City of Lafayette to amend the Unified Zoning Ordinance (UZO) to address the rapid proliferation and over-saturation of gas stations within Lafayette city limits. The amendment sets new standards and restrictions, including decommissioning requirements, for gas stations, fueling centers, truck stops, car washes, and oil change businesses. Each jurisdiction making up the APC must vote on the amendment. That is the reason it comes to WL City Council. WL, and any other APC jurisdiction, may choose to join Lafayette with these new rules if the Council chooses to do so.
Other Notes:
At the April 2024 City Council meeting, the Council passed Resolution 09-2024, asking the APC and staff to develop an amendment to the Downtown Master Plan to focus on the appropriate development of the Oakwood Village Neighborhood. That amended plan is now available for public comment on the APC website (https://www.tippecanoe.in.gov/378/Area-Plan-Commission-APC).
The APC Ordinance Committee will discuss the plan at the October 1 meeting as well as the full APC meeting on October 15. This is a time for the public to comment prior to City Council voting on its acceptance. Please review the Draft Plan and comment to the APC either using the form provided or at the October 1 meeting (4:30, County Building).
