WLPD Announces Construction-Related Pause in Drug Take Back Service
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (July 7, 2025) -The West Lafayette Police Department (WLPD) has announced a temporary pause in its monthly Drug Take Back Program, which has served as a convenient and secure way for residents to dispose of unused or expired medications.
The final regularly scheduled takeback event before the pause will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the lobby of the West Lafayette Police Department, located at 711 W. Navajo Street, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
Accepted Items: Only over-the-counter and prescription medications will be accepted. In accordance with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) guidelines, no needles/sharps or liquid medications can be collected.
The program is expected to resume upon the opening of the new West Lafayette Public Safety Center. The temporary pause is due to the upcoming construction of the new Public Safety Center, which will require the closure of the current police department lobby.
WLPD remains committed to safe medication disposal and plans to offer takeback opportunities at select community events throughout the year. These pop-up events will be publicized in advance to ensure residents remain informed and engaged.
WLPD appreciates the community’s continued support and understanding during this transitional period and looks forward to bringing expanded services and improved facilities to better serve residents in the near future.
