Public Notice: May 5 City Council Meeting – Logistics & Accommodations
We expect a larger turnout than usual for the upcoming West Lafayette City Council meeting on Monday, May 5, 2025. We want to share important information to help make the evening safe, welcoming, and accessible for all attendees.
Meeting Time:
Location and Capacity:

City Council meetings must be held in Council Chambers due to critical technology needs. Moving the meeting to another location is not possible.

Council Chambers occupancy is limited to 120 people for safety reasons.

Seats will be reserved for petitioners (those presenting items on the agenda).

Overflow accommodations within City Hall will be available:

Bean Room (capacity 80; seating available with some standing)
-
Art Room (capacity 65; seating available with some standing)
-
If needed: two additional Dance Studio rooms will be opened (total capacity 86; standing room only)
ADA Accommodations:

Assistive listening devices will be available in Council Chambers and the Bean Room.

If you require a hearing device, we recommend arriving early to secure a seat in one of these rooms.

Please contact the Clerk's Office at 765.775.5150 for hearing device requests.

If you are disabled and require a reasonable accommodation, please contact the Mayor’s Office at 765.775.5102.

Accommodation requests will be accepted up to 48 business hours prior to the meeting (rule temporarily suspended from 72 hours).

Please notify us by Friday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m. so we can best assist you.
Speaking at the Meeting:

Everyone who wishes to speak will have the opportunity to do so.

You must sign in on a designated speaker sheet (available in Council Chambers and each overflow room).

Each speaker will have 3 minutes to address the Council.

If you are called from an overflow room to speak, you must exit Council Chambers after your comment to allow continued flow and compliance with occupancy limits.

Speaking and commenting are in-person only. Electronic participation (commenting) will not be available during the meeting.

We welcome public comment and encourage active participation at this meeting.
There will be an opportunity for public comment on each Ordinance or Resolution currently before the Council, and likely again at the end of the meeting for general issues or concerns. Comments should be limited to three (3) minutes, and we ask that you avoid repeating points already made. Your comments should be courteous and respectful of all attendees. If you need additional time, please consider sending your questions or comments to the City Clerk at clerk@westlafayette.in.gov.
If you wish to speak, please sign in on the designated sheet at the podium (or in your designated overflow room). Your voice matters in shaping our community.
