On Monday, October 28, 2024, at approximately 9:35 PM, West Lafayette Police Department officers responded to a reported stabbing that had allegedly occurred near a campsite in the woods behind the West Lafayette Wastewater Treatment facility. The victim had already been transported to the emergency department at IU Health Arnett Hospital for treatment.
Using information gathered during the investigation, WLPD detectives identified the suspect in the stabbing as Justin L. Craig, 21, who is homeless. On 11/06/2024 deputies from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department located and detained Mr. Craig, who was then transported to WLPD and arrested after a subsequent interview.

Justin L. Craig, 21, was arrested and preliminarily charged with Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a level 5 Felony. The fact that the defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
