On Thursday July 25th, 2024, at approximately 9:40 PM, West Lafayette Police Department officers were conducting a routine patrol at Waterfront Apartments, 320 Brown St, West Lafayette, IN, when they observed suspected illegal drugs in plain view inside a vehicle in the parking lot. Officers determined that the vehicle belonged to a resident of Apt. 308.
After further investigation, officers were granted a search warrant for the apartment. During the service of the search warrant officers located large quantities of a variety of suspected drugs such as:
417 grams of methamphetamine
793 grams of marijuana
2 kilograms of “spice”
27 grams of designer THC
15 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
Officers also seized 2 handguns from the apartment.
Rufus J. Duncan, 41, of West Lafayette, IN faces preliminary charges of Dealing and Possession of Methamphetamine, Dealing and Possession of Marijuana, Dealing and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Domestic Batterer.
The fact that this defendant has been charged with crimes is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
