The West Lafayette Police Department is proud to announce that our very own Social Service and Crisis Response Specialist, Devon Moore, has been named the National Alliance on Mental Illness 2024 CIT Indiana Behavioral Health Professional of the Year!
Devon has had a profound impact on our agency and the Greater Lafayette community at-large by reshaping the way law enforcement responds to people in crisis. Devon serves our community members by securing the resources they need when they are experiencing a mental health crisis, homelessness, domestic violence, elderly/aging complications, suicidal ideations, suffering from substance abuse disorders, and other family-related issues. She also serves as a liaison for the department on many community boards and as a community partner by attending community outreach meetings and assisting with law enforcement training county-wide.
Devon’s impactful leadership as the Tippecanoe County CIT Coordinator and an acting member of the CIT planning committee has been instrumental in training law enforcement officers across the state of Indiana on their response to citizens in crisis. She truly embodies the CIT philosophy of building collaborative community partnerships through intensive training, improving communication, and helping to identify mental health resources for those in crisis, which ensures both officer and community safety.
The West Lafayette Police Department is better-trained, more community-oriented, and provides greater service to our citizens with Devon as part of our team. Please join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved honor.
Congratulations, Devon; and Thank You!!
