Global Fest 2023 Needs Your Help
Global Fest might be seven months away, but we're already booking our musical and performing acts now! If you have not done so, consider donating this year to support local art and help us celebrate our community's beautiful and diverse cultures. For 27 years, this event has been the highlight of West Lafayette, and we're looking forward to the 28th Global Fest on September 16, 2023.

 Making Memories
Dodgeball: On Friday, February 3, Can't Get Anyone Out won the Dodgeball tournament at the Wellness Center. We will have another match in the fall.
Riverside Skating Center: We appreciate our community's support for the 2022-2023 season. This year, we celebrated 20 years of chilly fun with our community. If you have yet to visit the rink this season, do so soon! The ice is just days from melting away.
STEM & Stories: On Saturday, February 25, our youth development team hosted an event in partnership with the Klondike Library. Children read the Three Little Pigs, made houses, and blew them down with a hair dryer! The next STEM & Stories will be on Saturday, March 18 at 11 A.M. Sign up today with the Klondike Library Portal!
Wibit Night: More than 30 families visited the Wellness Center on Friday, February 24, to enjoy the Wibit, our water obstacle course. The next Wibit night will be on April 21 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.

Volunteer Spotlight:
Clayton Drown
For more than three years, Clayton has been a regular volunteer for the Lilly Nature Center. He loves teaching visitors of the LNC all about birds. He also likes showing kids how to use the microscope at the touch table. Clayton just earned his Eagle scout rank with the Boys Scouts of America and is a senior in high school. He'd like to study electronic design and create user-friendly apps when he graduates later this spring.
The LNC is always seeking volunteers. Reach out to director Dan Dunten if you would like to help! ddunten@westlafayette.in.gov

Communication Updates
If you have used the West Lafayette Wellness Center, we would like to know about your experiences. Please take our quick survey by March 6, 2023, and let us know what you want and how we can improve your visits. We appreciate constructive criticism because we genuinely care that our community enjoys the Wellness Center.
We are working on adding digital comment boxes to the Wellness Center and our parks. Again, we want to ensure we allow the public a voice to help us improve. Maintaining the safety and cleanliness of our facilities and parks while keeping our programs innovative is our priority!
The Cumberland Dog Park is well-loved! We're happy to see so many furry friends enjoying the safe space to run and socialize. There are two sides to the park and later this spring, we'll flip usage to other run area. So, if you show up and it's locked, walk around to the other side!
We get asked daily about all of the construction on our roads and trails. Did you know we have an entire website dedicated to keeping you in the loop? Visit wlmoves.com for up-to-date information so you're always in the know! You can also visit our Boards and Commission page on our website for dates and times of meetings. Road construction is a topic at many of our public board meetings.
Speaking of websites...we know ours needs more TLC. We have Google Analytics up and running to help monitor any trends for the betterment of our facilities, with the goal of a polished and easy-to-use website by July 1, 2023. The improvement process will include converting our Parks information into a microsite, which will help streamline many of the pages and organize information.
We are in a hiring crunch. We need more lifeguards and camp staff for this summer. Please help us by sharing our hiring page within your social circles. We need our community's support to offer high-quality childcare and swim lessons all summer. Click here to see all the employment opportunities in the City.
Finally, I encourage you to follow us on social media! This is where you can find information about all our parks and programs. Click on the Staying Connected page and be proactive about the happenings in your local parks.
Thank you for taking the time to read this month's newsletter. If you have any suggestions, photos to share, or stories for the community, contact me! I love seeing so many faces enjoying our parks and facilities.
