Today, June 9, 2022, West Lafayette Police Department Lieutenant Stason Wiete graduates from the 282nd session of the FBI National Academy. Only seven other WLPD commanders have ever been privileged enough to complete this rigorous and prestigious 10-week professional course of study at the FBI campus in Quantico, Virginia. Students and their respective law enforcement agencies receive tuition, books, equipment, meals, lodging, and travel to and from the training facility at no cost.
The goal of the modern FBI National Academy is to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies both at home and abroad and raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide. During the course, participants take classes which cover a wide range of leadership and specialized training topics. They also collaborate with other law enforcement leaders from around the county and world sharing ideas, techniques, and experiences with each other to improve the profession of policing for all.
Lieutenant Wiete is an 18-year veteran of the West Lafayette Police Department who has held a variety of capacities during his career, and currently serves as a patrol shift commander and coordinator for the Field Training Program for our new officers. Lieutenant Wiete holds a master’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University and has also graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.
Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant Wiete on this tremendous accomplishment.
