PAS Offers Discount Conference Registration

Percussive Arts Society (PAS) is extending a special registration offer for its Percussive Arts Society International Convention, November 19 - 22, 2014 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Every online registrant through July 4, 2014 will receive an additional $25 off the PASIC 4-day registration (online only, does not include family member registration or other registration offers). This means student 4-day PASIC registration is $110 and professional 4-day PASIC registration is $160. PAS also recently released the list of artists confirmed for the conference. The list can be found here. Each year, PASIC presents one of the premier marching percussion festivals in the country. The event includes Tech Day 2.0, featuring a series of clinics, labs and performances on the campus of IUPUI and centered on music technology for the percussionist. Turnaround Arts White House Talent Show Showcases Efforts to Improve Low-Performance Schools

Turnaround Arts is a key program of President Obama's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. It uses the arts and artists to transform some of the lowest-performing schools nationwide. On May 20, students and artists gathered in the White House with the First Lady and President Obama (right) to announce the addition of 27 new schools to the program. The expanded program continues to be funded through a public-private partnership, and local program partners will provide an additional $12 million to bring teaching artists, art supplies, and musical instruments into schools and support arts integration. Call for Artists, Commitment to Excellence in Art & Sport, Indianapolis, IN
The National Art Museum of Sport, Indianapolis, Indiana specializes in sport-themed fine art and is the only museum of its kind in the world. The museum currently seeks submissions for their fourth annual Commitment to Excellence in Art & Sport: a Fine Art Competition and Exhibit. The competition is open to artists 18 and older who create fine art with a sport subject in three categories: 2-D / not photography; 3-D and 2-D photography. Artist Residency Program, Boston Center for the Arts, Boston, MA
The Boston Center for the Arts (BCA) Artist Residency Program provides a platform and support for the development of new work, while simultaneously offering artists unique opportunities to connect and collaborate with the community. Artists-in-residence each receive studio and funding support during their 15-week stay at the BCA. The BCA is now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 Artist Residency Program. Call for Public Art, Waterfront Seattle, Seattle, WA
The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, in collaboration with the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), seeks an artist or artist team to create a public artwork that engages play as a theme and activity for Waterfront Seattle, a project to create 20 acres of new parks and public spaces on Seattle's Central Waterfront. The commissioned work should engage the site as well as the history of art and play, resulting in a work that actively supports interaction and play. The call is open to all professional artists who have been practicing for at least five years and have a record of successfully realizing projects in the public realm. Call for Artists, Art in Town Hall, Fishers, IN
The Fishers Arts Council is currently seeking 2-D artists interested in exhibiting for Art in Town Hall, an art gallery located in Fishers Town Hall (One Municipal Drive). The gallery space is located on two floors of the municipal building. While there is a hanging system, there is no special lighting in the exhibit space. Currently, the gallery cannot accommodate 3-D shows. However, it has included limited 3-D work with self-provided vitrines or pedestals as part of group shows. The gallery hosted more than 15 exhibitions in the past three years, ranging from oil, pastels and watercolors to mixed media and textile art. Because Fishers Town Hall is so large - accommodating up to 60 works, depending on size - the Fishers Arts Council reserves the right to exhibit multiple artists at one time. Artists are encouraged to develop and apply as artist teams. All artwork within a team or group exhibition does not necessarily have to relate according to style, process or medium. Special consideration will be given to artists who live, work or have connections to Fishers, Indiana (e.g. high school graduate, etc.). Artists interested in exhibiting should submit: artist statement and biography; connection to Fishers (if applicable);  no more than 10 digital images of each artist's work, including specific pieces for the show if they are already created (submitted work must be suitable for all audiences, including pre-school children); preferred exhibition time-frames (Jan-Feb, Mar-Apr, May-Jun, Jul-Aug, Sep-Oct, Nov-Dec). Beckmann Emerging Artist Fellowship, Indianapolis, IN
The Robert D. Beckmann, Jr. Emerging Artist Fellowship Program awards two $3,500 fellowships each year to qualified and talented artists in music, dance, theatre, literature, media and / or visual arts. The program consists of two distinct components. The first component, a monetary award in the amount of $3,500, will be awarded for supplies, instruction, workshops, studio or rehearsal space, or other uses specifically related to the growth and development of the artist's artistic work. In addition to the grant, the fellows will receive professional development and growth opportunities through the Arts Council of Indianapolis. The Robert D. Beckmann, Jr. Emerging Artist Fellowship program seeks to introduce and provide experiences, connections, and relationships with professional arts institutions and professional artists in central Indiana. Muralists Needed for Indy Do Day, Indianapolis, IN
The Arts Council of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Downtown, Inc, and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, in partnership with Indy Do Day, Indiana Department of Transportation, and the City of Indianapolis are creating a new mural initiative to connect neighborhoods through key gateways in the city. The partnering organizations are requesting qualifications from artists or artist teams who are interested in creating outdoor public murals throughout the City of Indianapolis. This RFQ is an open call to experienced Indiana mural artists. A Public Art Selection Committee will review and recommend locations for murals as well as the qualifications of applicant artists. The budget for each mural will range from $4,000 to $30,000 depending on artists experience, size and type of mural, equipment, and materials. Each artist is expected to budget all materials and equipment needed to complete their mural. The budget provided to each artist or artist team does not include site preparation, as the project partners will manage each location to ensure it is structurally sound prior to work by the artist. Open Auditions for Mame, Footlite Musicals, Indianapolis, IN
Footlite Musicals announces auditions for Mame, the first show of their 2014-2015 mainstage season. Open auditions are July 20 and 21, 2014 at 7 p.m. Possible call-backs will be July 22. Auditions will take place at the Hedback Community Theatre, 1847 North Alabama Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Please prepare a verse and chorus from a Broadway or other show (nothing from Mame, please). An accompanist will be provided - bring sheet music in the correct key. Call to Artists, Quilted, Chattanooga, TN
Public Art Chattanooga (PAC), and the Chattanooga Convention and Visitor's Bureau (CVB), are seeking proposals for original, two-dimensional designs that will be printed and installed on multiple sidewalks throughout downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. Three designs will be selected for production and installed for up to six months beginning in September, 2014. The selected artists / designers will receive a $2,000 honorarium for their design. Proposed artwork should be in the spirit and language of quilts (i.e. pattern, geometry, and color). The project is open to individuals or teams. Call for Artists, Arlington Road & West 17th Street Roundabout, Bloomington, IN
The Crescent Bend Neighborhood Association in partnership with the City of Bloomington is issuing a call to artists to submit proposals for consideration for a site-specific artwork commission for the Arlington Road and West 17th Street Roundabout in Bloomington, Indiana. The Association was granted funds by the City of Bloomington's Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) to commission artwork for the roundabout that will serve as a welcoming symbol to the neighborhood and to the thousands of citizens and visitors who will pass by it daily. The budget for the commission is $12,000. A selection panel, comprised of Crescent Bend residents, project partners and public art staff will review the proposals. This is the 10th Anniversary edition of the annual CORE exhibit sponsored by Arts and Services for Disabled, Inc., and the National Arts and Disability Center. CORE intersects with artists nationally and internationally, while continuing to expand its reach by offering key new components this year. In addition to the high quality of visual arts that will be showcased, CORE 10 will also include a complete evening of live performances, a panel discussion bringing together diverse voices from the arts and disability advocacy communities, and a community workshop event inviting the public to take part in an interactive arts experience.
