Thirty-eight Hoosier artists will receive career development assistance through the Indiana Arts Commission's Individual Artist Program (IAP) grants approved for Fiscal Year 2015.

The grants were approved June 20, 2014 at the Commission's Quarterly Business Meeting in Indianapolis.

As in years past, artists could request grant amounts up to $2,000 for career development assistance projects

This year the Arts Commission accepted grant applications from artists in the visual arts for projects in visual art, photography, media arts, crafts, as well as from folk and access artists for projects related to these traditional disciplines.

A large gathering to honor Native American culture is expected to draw as many as 4,000 visitors to Danville in early July.

National Powwow XVI, which has been held every three years since its inception in 1969, returns to the Hendricks County community July 3 - 6 at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex.

The four-day event introduces visitors to a cultural experience filled with traditional singing and dancers, primitive skills demonstrations, a living history tipi village, ethnic foods, crafts, artisans,  kids' activities, and much more.
