Explore Indiana and Lend IHB a Hand

As you travel the state this summer, please be on the lookout for Indiana State Historical Markers!  Our 2013 marker inventory is underway and we need your help.

This Spring, most of North Central Indiana was surveyed, but we still have markers in Marion County that have eluded our wonderful volunteer photographers.  If you're planning to travel in Marion County and would like to hunt for markers, contact Casey for an updated list of photographs needed at caschuster@history.in.gov.

This Summer, we're focusing on the Southern part of the state.  Get involved by sharing your marker photos with us.

And as always, no matter where you are traveling in the state, remember to update us if you notice damaged or missing markers!  You can access the marker damage report from our Facebook page or via "Fix a Marker" at IN.gov/history.

Right: Recent Flickr submissions from the ongoing historical marker inventory.

Attention, Marker Applicants

If your 2013 Intent to Apply was approved, just a couple of months remain before your Indiana State Historical Marker application is due.

We encourage you to submit your application early.  Since we cannot accept incomplete applications and the pool is very competitive this year, early submissions will have the advantage of a quick staff review in time that you can make changes and resubmit before the deadline.

If you have any questions, please call our office (317-232-2535) or send an email (ihb@history.in.gov).
