The OUCC is inviting written public comments in the Duke Energy rate case through July 5.

In addition, the IURC has scheduled 3 public field hearings this month: 

• Terre Haute: June 4 at 6pm - Ivy Tech Community College, Oakley Auditorium, 8000 S. Education Drive.
• Bloomington: June 20 at 6pm - Monroe Convention Center, Olcott Young Room, 302 South College Avenue.
• Fishers: June 27 at 5pm - Hamilton East Public Library, East/Center Rooms, 5 Municipal Drive.

Duke Energy’s request would raise annual revenues for its Indiana electric utility by nearly $492 million. Its testimony and exhibits project a monthly residential bill of $170.67 when the request is fully implemented.

OUCC technical analysts and attorneys are reviewing Duke Energy's proposal with testimony due on July 11. A final Commission order is expected in January 2025.

The OUCC is scheduled to file testimony on July 19 in opposition to a proposed settlement agreement in the CenterPoint Energy electric rate case. The agreement among CenterPoint, industrial customers, and SABIC Innovative Plastics would reduce the utility's requested annual increase from approximately $115 million to $80 million.

A settlement hearing is scheduled to start on Sept. 3. The IURC's deadline to issue a final order has been extended to February 2025. Any settlement agreement filed with the Commission may be approved, denied, or modified.

• The IURC's final order in the Indiana Michigan Power rate case will allow annual revenues to rise by 4.8%, compared to the 8.4% increase the utility initially requested. The OUCC, additional consumer parties, and municipal governments were among the parties reaching a settlement agreement with the utility in this case.
• Ohio Valley Gas's requested rate increase would be reduced under recommendations the OUCC filed in May.
• South Eastern Indiana Natural Gas Co. is requesting a 35.2% base rate increase in a newly filed case before the IURC. Written consumer comments are invited for the case record with OUCC recommendations due in August.
• An IURC evidentiary hearing in the Evansville Water financing case is scheduled for June 20.
• OUCC testimony in the Citizens Water of Westfield rate case is due on June 21.
• In the American Suburban Utilities financing case, the OUCC is recommending a rate reduction if the utility's request is approved.

Summer officially begins on June 20, and you can take a number of simple steps that will add up to electric bill savings.  

Tips to help your home include:

• Have your HVAC system inspected and tuned up by a professional.
• Check your HVAC filter regularly. The unit will work most efficiently if the filter is clean.
• Keep curtains and blinds closed on hot days.
• Move energy-using items like lamps and TVs away from the thermostat.
• Keep vents unblocked.
• Set ceiling fans to rotate counterclockwise.
