Applications for Day of Service Grants
Serve Indiana is a voice for service and volunteerism in the state. Therefore, mini-grants are offered to provide resources to coordinate Day of Service projects. The program is to demonstrate the power of service as a solution to community needs. For 2018 The Department of Workforce Development is partnering with Serve Indiana to allow department employees to participate in a Day of Service and serve in their community. Request for Proposals for Community Service Projects
AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps
(NCCC) is a federal team-based national service
program for men and women between the ages of
18 and 24. Corps Members serve a full-time, ten-month
term, working on projects to meet
community needs in five main service areas:
disaster services, energy conservation,
environment, infrastructure improvement, and
urban and rural development.
The North Central Region is requesting
proposals for community service projects.
Those eligible to apply are nonprofit organizations,
government entities (federal, state, or local),
educational institutions, community-based
organizations, neighborhood associations, Native
American Tribal Councils, and faith-based
organizations.

Cara Jones is the AmeriCorps member that is making the opioid initiative happen by diligently researching the impact of these addictive drugs on the county. Serve Indiana Recieves Afterschool Grant
Serve Indiana is one of eight states that has received an afterschool grant from ASC and the Mott Foundation. "The grant, awarded to America’s Service Commissions (ASC), will support a multi-year initiative to identify how the state service commission network can expand afterschool opportunities through national service, such as AmeriCorps." https://bit.ly/2DWJUz6
Indiana Kids Program Highlight
Each month there will be a feature story on one of the Indiana Kids' programs. Indiana Kids, formerly Mitch’s Kids, came out of the Mitch Daniels administration in 2005. It has since been named Indiana Kids. Indiana Kids has four main goals: 1) Increase youth career and college readiness 2) Promote civic responsibility through engaging students in service activities 3) Increase student academic achievement 4) Increase parents job skills, parenting skills, and life skills leading to overall self-sufficiency.

Professional Grant Development Workshop
This intensive
two-day grant proposal workshop is geared towards those who wish to strengthen
their grant writing skills, as well as beginners who wish to acquire and master
the techniques of preparing and writing winning proposals to various funding

Transit Ambassadors Wanted
IndyGo is seeking engaged and committed volunteers to
participate in our Transit Ambassador Program.
Transit Ambassadors are trained volunteers who are
knowledgeable about transit in Indianapolis – current routes, route changes,
and impacts of the implementation of the Transit Plan.
IndyGo invites interested volunteers to apply online.
Eligible volunteers must be at least 18 years old and able to commit to a
minimum 2 volunteer shifts for a 6-month term. Transit Ambassador training will
take place in April with the first volunteer shifts scheduled in the May. For more information click here.
