JUNE 2017
SUMMER'S ALMOST HERE! Have you had your air conditioner serviced? If not, there's still time. Getting an AC tune-up is one of the many tips the OUCC offers as summer approaches. We also recommend budget billing, which most Indiana electric utilities offer. With budget billing, you pay the same in the long run. But by leveling your payments out, it provides greater certainty about your bills and can help relieve the sticker shock that may come due to hotter weather.
CASE UPDATES Duke Energy customers will see several benefits from a recently approved settlement agreement concerning the utility's plan for coal combustion residuals. The OUCC, industrial customers, and Vectren have reached an agreement on the utility's seven-year electric infrastructure plan; the agreement is pending before the IURC. Newly filed cases include the City of South Bend's water rate request, while Indiana Michigan Power(I&M) has informed the Commission of its intent to file a new rate case in the near future.
DID YOU KNOW? Indiana has the sixth-lowest tax-supported public debt level in the nation. "This latest report from Moody's is further confirmation that all Hoosiers benefit from our state's position as a national leader in fiscal responsibility," said Governor Eric J. Holcomb. Indiana's debt-service ratio is 0.8 percent. Ratios in neighboring states range from 3.0 to 8.1 percent.
KUDOS! Congratulations to several OUCC staff members who've received special State recognition for going above and beyond the call of duty. Pictured (L to R) are Jim Parks, Anthony Swinger, April Paronish, and Tiffany Murray. Their recent accomplishments exemplify great government service at a great value for all Hoosiers.
