WELCOME BILL FINE! Governor Eric Holcomb has appointed William I. (Bill) Fine as Indiana's new Utility Consumer Counselor. Bill brings 40 years of experience as a practicing Indiana attorney to the OUCC. Before joining the agency, Bill served in the Indiana House of Representatives, representing the communities of Munster, Highland, Hammond, and Griffith. He has also served on the Board of Managers for the Lake County Bar Association and on the Lake County Election and Voter Registration Board. A Hammond native, Bill is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington and an alumnus of Purdue University.
NEW IPL RATE CASE Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) has recently filed a request to change its base rates and charges. The OUCC is reviewing IPL's request and anticipates filing testimony this spring. Filing and hearing dates will be set in the near future, with updates to be posted on the OUCC's website.
DID YOU KNOW? Indiana has a winter disconnection moratorium for electric and natural gas utilities, but it only applies under specific circumstances. Whether or not the moratorium applies to a customer, all consumers are responsible for paying bills on time and in full, and letting utilities know if they need to make payment arrangements.
USING A CEILING FAN? If so, make sure it's turning clockwise at a low speed. This will help with circulating the warm air. (In the summer, though, ceiling fans should turn counter-clockwise.)
OUR MISSION To represent all Indiana consumers to ensure quality, reliable utility services at the most reasonable prices possible through dedicated advocacy, consumer education, and creative problem solving.
