CONGRATULATIONS AND THANKS! After nearly nine years as Indiana's Utility Consumer Counselor, David Stippler will be retiring from public service on January 1, 2017.
Under Stippler's outstanding leadership, the OUCC's efforts have helped produce major savings and benefits for Indiana utility ratepayers.
"I can state with great pride that the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor epitomizes the attributes indicative of a high-performing organization, fully intent on going from 'good to great,' by fulfilling its mission with integrity, professionalism, and a high degree of commitment to the public at large," wrote Stippler in his letter of intent to Vice President-Elect Pence.
Although our staff will miss Counselor Stippler, we wish him and his family the very best in retirement!
PROTECT YOURSELF! If someone calls your home or business and demands immediate payment to keep the heat (or the lights) on, hang up! It's a scam that's been reported throughout Indiana and the nation. Utilities must give written notice before disconnecting customers for non-payment, and they don't demand debit card payments over the phone.
DID YOU KNOW? If you're using incandescent lights on your Christmas tree, it's best to have no more than 3 strands connected. With newer LED lights, though, it's OK to connect more strands because of the lower wattage. LEDs use 70 percent less energy than traditional lights. They last longer, too.
OUR MISSION To represent all Indiana consumers to ensure quality, reliable utility services at the most reasonable prices possible through dedicated advocacy, consumer education, and creative problem solving.
