 Thank You, Marker Repair Volunteers
IHB staff would like to extend a big thank you to Bruce
Cole, his two sons, and the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Purdue University
for repainting the Cairo
Skywatch Tower marker in Tippecanoe County. This marker was installed
twenty years ago, and its paint was beginning to chip badly. Thanks to the hard
work of these volunteers, the marker is now back in excellent condition!

wonderful way to volunteer and help preserve the state’s history, especially as
we get closer to celebrating our Bicentennial of Statehood next year.

Allison Machine Shop Marker Dedicated
On Thursday, May 7, IHB Marker Program Manager Casey
Pfeiffer attended the dedication of a new state historical marker commemorating
Allison Machine Shop in Speedway. Allison Transmission is celebrating its
centennial year, and the marker dedication was part of ongoing efforts to honor
the company’s contributions in engineering and manufacturing since its
establishment in 1915. Many Allison Transmission employees were in attendance,
as well as Lawrence E. Dewey, Chairman, President, and CEO of Allison
Transmission, David Lindsey, Council President for the Town of Speedway, and
descendants of James Allison.
IHB would like to thank everyone who helped with this marker!
