Thank you for reading our very first Indiana Manager Central newsletter! This year INSPD is launching a new, manager-centric program: Indiana Manager Central. This will be a resource for managers statewide and includes this monthly newsletter, a new website, and a workshop series that begins in February. Topics such as hiring, performance management, professional development, and more will be covered with the goal of supporting managers alongside their agency-specific resources. We're excited to offer this additional support to managers across the state. Read more about the program here.

Dear HR...
"I’m in the process of developing 2024 performance goals with several of my employees but am unsure of how to successfully make them into S.M.A.R.T. goals. They don’t have easily defined metrics like number of calls answered or customers served. Do you have suggestions on writing S.M.A.R.T. goals?"

Helpful Hints
- You can make various trainings required as part of your employees' annual goals.
- Goals don't have to remain the same throughout the year; they can be adjusted to best suit an employees' projects/responsibilities or an agency's changing priorities.
- If your employee is transferring to a position where you'll no longer be their supervisor, launch a Performance Progress form to capture their current progress for their new manager. Use this form to get started.
