Thank you for reading our second monthly Indiana Manager Central newsletter! Last month, INSPD launched a new, manager-centric program: Indiana Manager Central. This will be a resource for managers statewide and includes this monthly newsletter, a new website, and a workshop series that begins in February. Topics such as hiring, performance management, professional development, and more will be covered with the goal of supporting managers alongside their agency-specific resources. We're excited to offer this additional support to managers across the state. Read more about the program here.

Helpful Hints from the TA Team
1. "Closing a requisition" cancels the requisition. "Closing a posting" retains the requisition but closes the public posting on the job board."
2. When a candidate is dispositioned, there is a 24-hour delay before they get a disposition/rejection email. That way, you can disposition in real time without worrying that a candidate is notified on their way home from an interview.
3. If you have special screening questions for applicants, list them in the "comments" box when you create the requisition.
4. You can "turn your req off", when you have an abundance of applicants to review before the requisition expires within a two week period. You can then "turn it back on", when you need more candidates.
5. You can use the Resume Viewer to see all resumes in sequence without going into each applicant individually.
Create a Performance Excellence Environment
Agencies and their managers can help to create an environment of performance excellence from an employee's first day to their last. They are responsible for ensuring expectations are consistently set, reinforced and evaluated and while SAP SuccessFactors helps document performance activities, the system only gains value when performance management is used by managers and employees regularly. Performance management is the system by which a manager:
- aligns the daily activities of the employee with the agency’s mission,
- reinforces a standard of success to support the consistent achievement of business results and
- encourages employees to take ownership of their work, career and talent development.
