Northwest Indiana named Indiana's eighth 21st Century Talent Region
Local, regional and state leaders gathered Sept. 18 via Zoom to recognize the Northwest Indiana Region as Indiana's eighth 21st Century Talent Region.
Earlier this month, the Northwest Indiana Region became Indiana's eighth designated 21st Century Talent Region!
It’s exciting to see the collaboration happening in the Northwest Indiana Region among business, community and education leaders to create pathways to greater education, training and employment opportunities, and to see the region's clear dedication toward continued workforce development and economic growth.
We're thankful for the hard work Center of Workforce Innovations, Inc., Northwest Indiana Forum, the NWI Workforce Board and other NWI business, education and community leaders have put into achieving this designation, and into creating opportunities for the NWI Region to thrive.

Indiana to cover HSE test fees through end of year
With more than 450,000 Indiana adults without a high school diploma, taking the high school equivalency (HSE) test is the first step to preparing Hoosiers for better jobs, education and training opportunities.
This week, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development announced Indiana will cover test fees (with funding through the CARES Act) for students who take the HSE through December 30.
As Indiana CCT continuously works to increase educational attainment in regions across the state through the 21st Century Talent Region initiative, we are excited about this opportunity and how it can positively impact thousands of Hoosiers, their families and their communities.
To qualify, students must be Indiana residents, currently enrolled in an adult education program, and have successful scores on a practice exam. Visit in.gov/dwd/HSE.htm to get started.
