21st Century Talent Regions: A Year in Review
In 2019, the Indiana Office of Career Connections and Talent designated a total of four 21st Century Talent Regions – Northeast Indiana, EcO Network of Southeast Indiana, Indiana Uplands and Hamilton County.
It has been amazing to see how much growth and opportunity has stemmed from the collaboration of local-, regional- and state-level leaders throughout Indiana.
Each of these regions continues to play an integral role in making Indiana a better place to live, work and play, building and implementing region-specific plans to attract, develop and connect talent.
In our January blog, we highlight the four 21st Century Talent Regions designated in 2019, elaborating on the goals of each region. Click below to read more.
Over the next year, we intend to continue work with Indiana communities to increase educational attainment, raise household income and grow population, acknowledging those efforts with additional well-deserved 21st Century Talent Region designations.
We're off to a great start in 2020 with the South Bend Elkhart Region designated the year's first 21st Century Talent Region earlier this month.
Congratulations to the South Bend - Elkhart Regional Partnership and regional partners!

Indiana's second Skillful Governor’s Coaching Corps
Indiana’s Skillful Governor’s Coaching Corps (SGCC), a partnership of Skillful and the state of Indiana, is now accepting applications for its second cohort of career coaches.
SGCC is an intensive program that recognizes the vital role career coaches play in bridging the gap between individuals and employers, supporting economic growth across that state and guiding professional advancement for thousands of Hoosiers.
The program gives coaches supplemental tools and training they can use to better serve people in a rapidly changing labor market and to invest in their own personal and professional development. At the end of the program, coaches recommend new practices and approaches to state policymakers for adoption.
Applicants from high schools, community colleges, workforce centers and nonprofit organizations across the state are encouraged to submit an application via skillful.com/indianaSGCC before Feb. 5.

2020 Innovate WithIN pitch competition
Applications for the 2020 Innovate WithIN pitch competition, a statewide initiative hosted by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Indiana Department of Education, Ball State University and STARTedUP Foundation, are open to high school students across Indiana.
The Innovate WithIN pitch competition fosters an entrepreneurial spirit among our leaders of tomorrow, empowering Hoosier students to hone their innovative thinking by giving them the opportunity to create their own business plans and showcase entrepreneurial ideas.
Student teams are invited to submit video pitches online before Feb. 7, and middle school students interested in entrepreneurship are invited to register for workshops offered at the regional competitions in early 2020. The overall winners of the state competition will each receive a $10,000 cash prize, $10,000 toward one year of in-state tuition, internship opportunities and mentoring services.
Submit applications and learn more about the program at InnovateWithIN.org.
